PERSONAL MESSAGE
“Thank you for considering Mona Lisa Smile Dental. I understand that choosing a dentist is an important decision, especially when you are facing complex dental problems or considering significant treatment. My promise to every patient is simple: I will take the time to listen, carefully evaluate your concerns, explain your options honestly, and recommend only the treatment that I believe is in your best long-term interest. I do not believe in patching teeth. I believe in understanding why problems develop, creating a healthy foundation, and building smiles that are designed to last.”
Our Philosophy
Every treatment recommendation should begin with one question: Why did this happen? At Mona Lisa Smile Dental, we believe lasting oral health begins with understanding the complete picture. Before recommending cosmetic or restorative treatment, we gather objective information about your teeth, bite, jaw joints, gums, bone, airway, and overall oral health. Only then do we develop a treatment plan. What defines our practice isn't simply the technology we use or the credentials we've earned. It's the philosophy that guides every decision. Understand first. Treat second. That same commitment extends beyond this office. Dr. Khandaqji is proud to volunteer with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry's Give Back a Smile® program, donating his expertise to help survivors of domestic and sexual violence rebuild their smiles and their confidence. Because we believe dentistry is about more than restoring teeth it's about restoring lives.
How We Work
The Mona Lisa Stability Method
01
Diagnose
We collect objective data before recommending anything. Scans, bite records, inflammatory screening. No guesswork.
02
Stabilize
Before rebuilding, we address what is causing the damage. Bite instability, TMJ, inflammation, and disease control come first.
03
Heal
Using biologic support like PRF when appropriate, we help the body heal better and more completely before and after treatment.
04
Rebuild
With a stable, healthy foundation in place, we restore function, beauty, and confidence. Done well and designed to last.

Why I Practice This Way
Early in my career, I began seeing the same pattern again and again. Patients would come in after years of repeated dental work. Crowns had been replaced multiple times. Teeth continued to crack. Bridges failed. Implants were being considered, or had already failed. Many had seen several dentists and still did not have a clear explanation for why their problems kept returning. That led me to one question:“Why are these teeth failing in the first place?”That question changed the way I practice dentistry. Today, I do not begin comprehensive treatment with a procedure. I begin by understanding the complete picture the teeth, bite, jaw joints, gums, bone, airway, and inflammation, and the way each factor affects the others. Only then can we create treatment that is truly personalized and designed for long-term health, function, stability, and aesthetics

FAQ
Things Patients OftenAsk Before Their First Visit
Not at all. A regular exam is a general check-up. The Stability Evaluation is a comprehensive diagnostic visit that includes 3D CBCT imaging, intraoral scanning, bite analysis, TMJ screening, periodontal and inflammatory testing, and airway risk screening. You leave with a full picture of your oral health and a phased treatment plan – not just a list of things that need fixing.
Dr. Khandaqji has been practicing advanced dentistry for more than 25 years. He has been based in Walnut Creek throughout his career and has built a practice focused on complex restorative, cosmetic, and implant cases – all grounded in a diagnosis-first philosophy.
The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Accreditation is one of the most rigorous credentials in dentistry. It is not a membership – it requires submitting clinical cases for peer review and demonstrating a consistently high standard of cosmetic dental work. There are very few AACD Accredited dentists in the Bay Area.
This is one of the most common things we hear. When patients get inconsistent advice, it is usually because each dentist was looking at one piece of the puzzle in isolation. Our Stability Evaluation is designed to look at everything together — the teeth, the bite, the jaw, the bone, the gums, the airway – and give you one clear, complete picture.
Yes. We regularly see patients from Lafayette, Alamo, Danville, Pleasant Hill, and throughout the East Bay. Many of our patients drive from further away specifically because of the diagnostic approach we offer – something they have not been able to find closer to home.
