PATIENT TRANSFORMATIONS

Behind Every Smile Is a Story.

Every transformation starts with understanding the patient, uncovering the cause, and designing a treatment plan with purpose.

THE TREATMENT JOURNEY

Case Study

Here are some interesting stories from the patients.

Story 01: My Teeth Kept Breaking.

Tom - Full Mouth Rehabilitation

THE CONCERN

Tom came to Mona Lisa Smile Dental after years of repeatedly breaking his front teeth. Every repair seemed temporary, and each new fracture left him feeling more frustrated and less confident in his smile. He wasn’t looking for another quick fix. He wanted to understand why his teeth kept breaking and find a solution that would restore both his smile and his confidence.

WHAT OUR EVALUATION REVEALED

Rather than focusing only on the broken teeth, we performed a comprehensive Stability Evaluation. Our examination revealed that the fractured teeth were only part of the problem. Years of tooth wear, loss of tooth structure, and an unstable bite had created excessive forces on the remaining teeth, making them increasingly vulnerable to fracture. Instead of treating the symptoms, we identified the underlying conditions contributing to the repeated failures. That diagnosis became the foundation for every treatment decision that followed.

THE UNDERLYING CAUSE

The broken teeth were not the diagnosis, they were the result of a larger functional problem. Because the bite had become unstable and the teeth had been subjected to years of excessive wear and uneven forces, simply repairing the broken teeth would likely have resulted in continued fractures. To achieve a lasting result, the underlying functional issues had to be addressed before rebuilding the smile.

THE OUTCOME

Today, Tom enjoys a healthy, functional, and natural-looking smile that allows him to eat comfortably, smile confidently, and move forward without the constant concern of another tooth breaking. More importantly, his treatment addressed the underlying causes of his dental problems rather than simply repairing the visible damage. His case reflects the philosophy that guides every comprehensive treatment at Mona Lisa Smile Dental:
Diagnose. Stabilize. Heal. Rebuild.

Story 02: I Was Told I Needed Implants.

Kelly - Full-Arch Implant Rehabilitation (All-on-X)

THE CONCERN

Kelly came to Mona Lisa Smile Dental after years of struggling with failing teeth, repeated dental problems, and declining oral health. She had lost several teeth, others were broken beyond repair, and many of the remaining teeth had extensive decay and infection. Eating had become increasingly difficult, smiling made her self-conscious, and she no longer felt comfortable speaking or laughing in public. She had already been told that she needed dental implants, but she was overwhelmed by the diagnosis and uncertain whether that was truly the best solution. More than anything, Kelly wanted an honest evaluation, a clear explanation of her condition, and a treatment plan she could trust.

WHAT OUR EVALUATION REVEALED

A full diagnostic workup - 3D CBCT imaging, digital scanning, clinical photography, biteanalysis, and bone assessment - revealed the real problem. It wasn't simply missing teeth. The entire foundation supporting her smile had become unstable: chronic infection, significant bone loss, and remaining teeth with a poor long-term prognosis. Repairing one tooth at a time would only lead to more failures.

THE UNDERLYING CAUSE

Kelly’s problem was not simply that she had missing teeth. The real problem was that the entire foundation supporting her smile had become unstable. Every broken tooth, infection, and failed restoration was another sign that the mouth could no longer function as a healthy system. Replacing one tooth at a time would not solve the underlying problem. Instead, our recommendation focused on rebuilding the entire foundation in a way that would provide long-term predictability. After discussing every available option, including the benefits, limitations, and long-term expectations of each treatment, Kelly chose to proceed with full-arch implant rehabilitation.

THE OUTCOME

Kelly’s transformation was about much more than replacing teeth. She regained the ability to eat comfortably. She regained confidence when smiling. She no longer worried about broken teeth or recurring dental emergencies. Most importantly, she now has a healthy, stable foundation designed to support her smile for many years to come. Her final smile was designed to look natural, complement her facial features, and restore the confidence she had gradually lost over the years.

Story 03: I Never Smiled in Photos.

Andrea - Implant + Porcelain Veneers

THE CONCERN

Andrea had spent years hiding her smile. Whenever someone took a photograph, she instinctively smiled with her lips closed or covered her mouth. She felt self-conscious about the appearance of her front teeth, especially the missing lateral tooth and the uneven shape and symmetry of her smile. Although her teeth were healthy overall, every time she looked in the mirror, her eyes immediately focused on what was missing rather than what was beautiful. Like many patients, Andrea didn’t simply want ā€œveneers.ā€ She wanted to smile naturally without worrying about her teeth.

WHAT OUR EVALUATION REVEALED

Andrea’s evaluation showed that a single procedure alone would not produce the best esthetic outcome.
To create ideal symmetry, several components had to work together:
  • Replacement of the missing lateral incisor with a dental implant
  • Careful management of the surrounding gum tissue
  • Custom implant restoration
  • Veneers to improve symmetry, proportions, and balance
  • Bite refinement for long-term stability
  • Comprehensive smile design based on facial features

LOOKING BEYOND COSMETICS

Many cosmetic dental offices begin by discussing veneers. At Mona Lisa Smile Dental, we begin with a diagnosis. Beautiful dentistry starts with understanding the entire smile, not just the color of the teeth. Before recommending treatment, we carefully evaluated all the necessary information from facial symmetry, to overall bone structure. Our goal was never to make the teeth simply look whiter. Our goal was to create a smile that looked completely natural and belonged to Andrea.

THE OUTCOME

Andrea’s new smile looks effortless. The implant blends naturally with the surrounding teeth. The veneers enhance the smile without looking artificial. Her gum contours are balanced, the proportions are harmonious, and her smile complements her face rather than drawing attention to the dentistry. Most importantly, Andrea no longer avoids photographs. She smiles confidently, laughs freely, and no longer worries about hiding her teeth. That confidence, not simply new teeth, is the true success of cosmetic dentistry.
